Easy Mooli Paratha Recipe – Radish Paratha

Easy mooli paratha
Radish paratha ( Mooli paratha, muli paratha in Hindi ) is a popular North Indian paratha recipe. It is basically a Punjabi recipe. Usually I make mooli paratha/ radish paratha by stuffing mooli masala in roti dough. But recent days, I have been making mooli paratha without stuffing following this easy method as told by my friend Shalini. Its a no onion no garlic paratha recipe. In this method, I have added the ground mooli along with spice powders to the whole wheat flour directly. To make this paratha soft, I have added besan flour, oil and curd. These ingredients help to keep this paratha soft for few hours. I have made these paratha thin as Sendhil loves this way. Make it thin or thick as you wish.Bachelors and working women will find this recipe very easy to prepare in busy morning hours or for dinner after coming back tired from office. Onion raita , masala dahi or pickle would serve as a best side dish for this paratha. Friends, do try this easy mooli paratha recipe at home and share your feedback with me. Lets see how to make this easy radish paratha / muli paratha with step by step photos !

Easy Mooli paratha / Radish Paratha recipe

Easy Mooli paratha / Radish Paratha recipe Mooli paratha ./ Radish paratha in an easy way without stuffing !
Cuisine: North Indian
Category: Dinner / Breakfast
Serves: Serves 2
Prep time: 10 Minutes
Cook time: 2 Minutes
Total time: 12 Minutes

INGREDIENTS
1 cup - 250ml
  • Wheat flour - 1 cup ( I used Aashirvad atta)
  • Besan flour - 1 tbsp
  • Cooking oil - 1 tbsp
  • Curd - 1 tbsp
  • Radish - 2 nos ( medium sized)
  • Carom seeds/ Ajwain - 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped green chilli – 1 no
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Dhania powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - a fistful ( finely chopped)
  • Salt – as needed
  • Water – few tbsp  ( Use very less water)
  • Cooking oil or ghee – to drizzle on paratha
METHOD

  • Wash and peel the skin of radish using a peeler. Discard the skin. Slice the radish into thin roundels. Grind them to a smooth paste without adding water. While grinding wipe the sides of mixie jar and grind for long time till radish becomes a smooth paste. If you do not want to grind the radish, just grate it using a fine grater and keep aside. No need to squeeze the water from it.
    Easy radish paratha
  • In a wide plate, take the wheat flour, besan flour, cooking oil, curd , carom seeds, red chilli powder, dhania powder, garam masala powderand finely chopped green chillies and coriander leaves.Mix everything well to make a crumbly mixture.
    Easy mooli paratha recipe
  • Now add the ground radish paste/ grated radish and mix well without adding water. Flour will become semi wet now. So add very little water using a tbsp measure and make a soft, non-sticky dough. Make sure you do not add more water. If the dough becomes sticky, paratha may turn out dry and hard. So add water very carefully. The quantity of water depends on the water content in radish. I used less than 1/4 cup of water.

  • Easy mooli paratha recipe
    • Grease your hands with oil and make golf sized balls from the paratha dough.Arrange them in a plate. Take one ball, dust in wheat flour and roll it to a thin or thick paratha as you wish. Paratha should not stick to the rolling pin. Do not use more flour for dusting. It will make the paratha dry even if you add more oil. Make all the paratha and keep them in a plate. If  you are not able to make round paratha, just roll the paratha to any shape, cut it with a round box lid.
    • Heat a dosa tawa. When its hot, drop a paratha on the tawa. Keep the flame medium. Apply a tsp of oil or ghee all over the paratha, cook for a minute. Flip and cook the other side as well. Brush with oil. Cook both the sides till golden spots appear. Remove the paratha, brush with more oil or ghee if you wish. Serve it hot with raita and pickle to enjoy its best taste. If you are packing for lunch, just stack the cooked paratha one over the other, roll it in a thermal foil and keep inside the lunch box. Stays soft for few hours.
    Easy mooli paratha recipe
    Enjoy !

Note
  • Adjust the quantity of spice powders as per your taste.
  • Usually I make this paratha thin as per my family’s likings. Make it thick if you wish.
  • You can replace carom seeds with cumin seeds.
  • Adding besan flour is optional. You can skip it too.
  • Adding curd and oil helps to make the paratha soft.
  • Be careful while adding water. Add it little by little. The quantity of water depends on the water content present in radish.

Enjoy this easy mooli paratha with a simple onion raita and pickle and relish a quick breakfast/ dinner !

Easy Garlic Spaghetti Recipe – Indian Vegetarian Spaghetti Recipes

Spaghetti recipe Indian vegetarian
Food blogging has made me try and taste varieties of recipes from various cuisines which I have not even imagined in my life. Being a South Indian, my whole food world was just revolving around Idli, dosa, poori and chapathi . But after I became a food blogger, my eating habits and cooking have changed completely. I am really proud and happy to be a passionate food blogger.

Pasta, Hakka Noodles, Tacos, Spaghetti, Quesadilla, Tortilla – All these terms were very new to me until I saw them in our fellow bloggers blog. I did not even know how to cook them perfectly. Slowly I am learning everything and blogging the same to help beginners like me. I am happy that I am trying out various international recipes in my kitchen. My recent crush was to try spaghetti at home.

Spaghetti is basically a type of noodles made from durum wheat semolina. Spaghetti is the plural form of the Italian word spaghetto, which is a diminutive of spago, meaning "thin string" or "twine". It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine ( Source: Wiki). Cooking spaghetti is not so difficult as I thought. Its procedure is more like cooking noodles.

As a beginner, I wanted to make an easy and simple Indian style Vegetarian spaghetti recipe. I found this easy stir fried, garlicky spaghetti recipe HERE as I din’t have any vegetables in hand. I made some modifications as per my family’s taste buds and tried it for a Sunday breakfast. It came out really well with an awesome flavor of roasted onion and garlic in olive oil.

This is just a basic spaghetti recipe. For variations ansd make it more rich, you can add sliced, sauteed vegetables and grated cheese on top before serving. Sendhil & Raksha gave a big thumbs up after eating. We relished it with tomato sauce. Its a quick breakfast recipe for bachelors and working women as there is very less chopping works. Kids would love this for sure. Do try it out for a change and share your feedback here. Lets see how to cook spaghetti and make this Indian style, vegetarian garlic spaghetti recipe with step by step pictures.

Kabuli chana dosa/Chickpeas dosa / Kondakadalai dosai in Tamil. This recipe was shared to me by Suchi Vasan, my readerHappy. She shared this dosa recipe along with a side dish – Kara chutney. When she sent the recipe, I thought it would be more like our mixed lentil adai. But I was wrong. Its completely different from adai batter in ingredients and procedure. Its a very healthy, protein rich dosa recipe with more quantity of white chana and less rice. Batter should be ground like our usual dosa batter. This dosa can be made instantly, no fermentation needed. It comes out very soft and tasty. Sendhil & myself loved it a lot. Its a very good and healthy breakfast choice for adults and kids as well. I have decided to make this dosa very often in my kitchen. In fact I loved to have kabuli chana in the form of dosa more than sundal or gravy. Thanks a lot Suchi for sharing this yummy, healthy dosa variety with me.Friends, do try this dosa and share your feedback here. Poha Dosa - Aval Dosai - Instant Atukula Dosa Recipe

Poha dosa recipe
I have heard about Andhra’s Instant atukula dosa (Atukula Attu in Telugu, Avalakki Dosa in Kannada, Poha Dosa in Hindi, Aval Dosai in Tamil, Flattened rice in English) but I haven’t tried at home. For the first time, I tried this soft and spongy poha dosa yesterday for my in-laws as both of them have tooth problem. It came out super soft and everyone loved it at home with tomato chutney as side dish.

This dosa batter is made without urad dal and the best part is that the batter doesn’t need over night fermentation. It can be made instantly after grinding. This aval dosai is sure a welcome change from the aval upma. I followed the recipe from Sailu’s blog but I altered the quantity of ingredients and made it without adding cooking soda/ baking soda. This recipe works great for this summer season. I prepared the dosa batter in the afternoon and made the dosa without adding baking soda for dinner. I gave a resting time of 6 hours for the batter. So I have mentioned it as instant poha dosa as I din't ferment the batter overnight. Also you can make this dosa instantly by adding baking soda.

Do try it for your breakfast or dinner. You will love it and make it very often. Lets see how to make Andhra special South Indian Aval dosa recipe with step by step photos.

bottle gourd dosa
Usually I make Kootu with Sorakkai (Suraikai, Sorekai in Tamil, Sorakaya in Telugu, Lauki in Hindi, Bottle gourd in English). But this time for a change, I tried dosa with bottle gourd as suggested by my MIL.She usually adds it while grinding rice flour dosa/verum arisi dosa or in paruppu adai to make the dosa very soft. But I added some spices along with rice & bottle gourd to make a spicy, flavorful dosa like adai.

My friend Shalini used to tell me about her Karam dosa recipe. So I just used those spices for grinding this batter. It came out very well with a nice color as I expected. With coconut chutney as side dish, we loved it a lot. I was very happy that I could make a spicy, yummy, flavorful dosa variety adding a healthy vegetable.

Friends, if you buy bottle gourd/Sorakkai, don’t forget to try this dosa. You can enjoy it for your breakfast and dinner as well. Ok, lets see how to make bottle gourd dosa with step by step pictures.

Red Rice Idli Dosa Recipe – Kerala Matta Rice Idli dosa - Healthy Idli Recipes

Red rice idli recipe

We all know Red rice has amazing health benefits when compared with our usual white rice. So I always think to include it in my regular diet. Last week I made this healthy red rice (Kerala Rosematta) idli recipe for the first time. I have tried varieties of idli recipes using millets, brown rice, oats and even with barley.

When I saw 1/2 kg of Kerala red rice in my pantry which I bought for my Onam sadya, red rice idli & dosa flashed in my mind. I browsed through many recipes and watched some youtube video recipes too. Finally I came up with this version. Idli came out super soft and dosa was very flavorful except the color was dull white. I was very happy with the result and including this in my Idli varieties collection.

Sorry, I am not able to post this recipe with stepwise pictures as they got deleted by mistake. Please find the picture of red rice I used in this recipe. Lets see how to make this healthy, soft idli recipe using Kerala Red rice.
